Growing Like a Weed!

I cannot believe Sebastian is already four months old! I'm so glad I decided to do the chalkboard project to document his growth:

Such a sweetheart! (: I'm so proud to be this little man's mamma! Except I already feel sad that he's grown so much, I really feel like the nostalgic mom who says "they grow up too fast!" I was talking with my mom yesterday about how odd it will be to have a boy as the first born, and wondering how the family dynamic will work out if we have a girl next... Basically she told me boys aren't responsible and are wild. Which I know works for some parents, but not me. I read this little poem on pinterest that explained how I feel about raising a little boy..

"Boys will be boys, or so they say, But I'm raising my boys to be men one day...Shouting is not nice and kicking hurts, nobody likes their face in the dirt.. So boys that fight, kick, and shout..will be boys that sit in TIME OUT"

Don't get me wrong, I expect some boyish roughness, and crazy games, but I hope that Sebastian will be responsible and prove to be a good protective big brother for whatever gender babies we have next!

Block Party

Let me start of by saying, I'm not really creative. I have an immense appreciation for those who can dream up ideas and create something unique.. but I am not one of those people. I like DIY crafts, and knitting, crocheting, etc. however, everything I make is really just a copy of someone else's idea.

So, when I was browsing on zulily a couple of weeks ago, I saw these blocks for sale for the bargain ridiculous price of $6.99 a block. I understand most people probably use them for decoration only, and order a handful of blocks.. but I thought they were adorable and way more memorable, unique, and better looking than regular alphabet blocks.

Normally I just would move on with life and forget the blocks.. but for some reason I really kept thinking that I should try to make them!

 I went to hobby lobby and found some of these 2" plain wooden cubes for $1 each.. so I emptied the shelf of the {10} blocks that they had and set out to make Sebastian some awesome wooden blocks that  he will probably never appreciate all the effort that I am putting into them.. but .. oh well. (:

Having a cricut made this project pretty easy, I bought some pretty scrapbooking cardstock, had the cricut cut perfect 2"*2" squares, and simply modgepodged it onto the cube! The cricut also cut out the letters for the face of the block. Basically this turned into an 'anybody can do it' project.. which is great for me! However, I am so happy with the finished product, and plan on returning to Hobby Lobby in a couple of weeks to empty out their stock of blocks again. (:

Total project cost me $15! Wahoo for saving money!

Sebastian's Nursery

When Grayson and I first found out that we were expecting, one of the first things that I started envisioning the nursery (besides what our baby would look like! boy? girl? dark hair? blonde?)

When we found out that Sebastian was a boy, I immediately went into full blown crazy preperation mode! After all, his nursery is important! This is where my baby boy would be sleeping, where I'd be spending time nursing in the middle of the night, and where we'd be reading books for years to come.. Quite the vision this room must live up to!

In general, I noticed that almost all of the "boy themed" rooms were brown. And to me, brown is grumpy and does not make for a cheerful nursery. Therefore, I decided to just forgo the apparent societal rule that boys can only like boring colors and went for a cheerful bright blue and green theme!

 Ta-da! (: It's a bit messier since Sebastian's arrived, and it's actually LIVED in, but I'm still so happy with how it turned out!
